East Hararghe is located in the Oromiya region. It is bordered on the Southwest by Shebelle to the North and the Somali region to the East. East Hararghe is exposed to, in particular, drought and conflicts and the prevalence of malnutrition there has been high for a long time.
The prevalence rate of global acute malnutrition in the area studied is estimated at 12% (SMART survey, 2014).
The following risk factors have been identified:
Too much work for caregivers,
Short spacing between births,
Family eating habits where the father has the preemptive right over the food.
