Peter Muriuki Gatheru is a Research Assistant at APHRC, Nairobi.
Muriuki’s work involves coordinating and supervising field work for the INDEPTH Vaccination Project and the Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition Project (MIYCN). His expertise is in coordination of field activities, ensuring a smooth flow of the data collection process.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Religious Studies from Nations University.
Muriuki joined APHRC in 2007 as a Field Supervisor and has worked on several projects including the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project, UPHD-Maternal and Child Health Project and the Safety & Wellbeing – Menstruation Cup Project. Prior to joining APHRC, he worked at FHI 360 as a Research Assistant working on a project titled ‘Towards Preventing Orphaning Initiative’ aimed at preventing orphaning due to HIV/AIDS in several districts of the Rift Valley Province.
Muriuki’s research interests include maternal and child health issues, including maternal and child nutrition in poor resource settings. He is driven by the passion to see lives transformed for the better. Muriuki is a certified Youth Counsellor and a vibrant youth leader.
