An initial pilot study took place in the Chivi district in the Masvingo Province.

The results of a recent national nutritional survey identified very high levels of chronic malnutrition (33.8%) and lower levels of acute malnutrition (2.1%).

These analysis results indicate that, when compared with the results of the national survey in 2010, global acute malnutrition had increased slightly, global chronic malnutrition remained relatively stable whilst severe chronic malnutrition had increased by 6.1%.

The findings of the survey were used to modify Link NCA methodology by changing the focus on difficult causal interpretations, placing value on the magnitude of specific risk factors, reinforcing the use of qualitative data and existing information, and highlighting the strong link between risk factors and under nourishment.
