An initial pilot study using Link NCA took place in 2011 in the Kutupalong and Nayapara refugee camps in the district of Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh, in order to understand the high morbidity rates and malnutrition in children and adults.

The prevalence of chronic malnutrition was found to be higher in Nayapara (NYP) than Kutupalong (KTP).

Multivariate regression analysis identified insufficient food aid, inappropriate supplementary feeding practices for infants, poor psychosocial care, a high morbidity rate particularly due to diarrhea, low income for households, as well as detrimental hygiene practices associated to malnutrition in infants between 6-59 months old.
